Experience in Local Government

I had the honour of serving for 14 years
as a Commissioner (Trustee) on the
Lester B. Pearson School Board and its predecessor, the Lakeshore School Board  on the West Island of Montreal.

I understand the time commitment and importance of listening to the community and working with fellow commissioners and staff to deliver the best possible programs for the community.

Active in the Community

I joined the Access Oceanside Association as Secretary-Treasurer in 2022 and developed a solid working relationship with the City and local associations with the goal of improving accessibility in our community.

The defining achievement of these efforts was the installation of the Beach Mat and Beach Wheelchair on Parksville Beach making it accessible to all.  Now the focus is on improving accessibility at local businesses.

A Love Affair with Parksville

Having visited the Island many times  over the years, I always had an eye on Parksville as the place to retire … literally to Live, Work (from home) and Play (in my kayak or on the golf course).  I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to move here in 2017, spending the last five years of my career working from home.

I attend Council meetings on a regular basis as an interested taxpaying, member-of-the-public in order to learn and stay current on Municipal issues.

My Other Life

Professionally I spent 48 years in the airline industry including 39 years with an international airline as Cargo Manager based in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

Like many parents, I was an active volunteer in the community during my children’s school years.  I served as Parent representative on the local School Governing Board, did my best as a volunteer soccer coach and swim meet official, ultimately serving as President of the Beacon Hill Community Pool in Beaconsfield, Quebec.

I was born and raised close to Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver, married 43 years with two adult children and one beautiful (but too smart for her own good) seven year-old granddaughter.

My thoughts on...

Fiscal Management

Local governments must manage their financial resources carefully, always keeping a watchful eye on the potential cost impact to taxpayers.

Stewardship of Water Resources

I support investment in a new water storage facility (dam) to better balance Parksville’s water supply through the year.

Investment into Infrastructure

I support continued investment to maintain and update infrastructure (road, water, sewage) in Parksville, including Fire and Police services.

Housing Development

We need to focus on new housing stock that is family-friendly and affordable.
